Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a community-based lunch program to help meet the needs of residents in McAlester and Krebs. Recipients may receive Meals on Wheels through a physician or social worker referral. Income is not a criteria but they must be over 55 years of age and unable to prepare meals for themselves. Currently MRHC provides 53 meals per day – Monday through Friday.

The food is prepared and packaged at MRHC and community volunteer drivers deliver the meals. It takes approximately 40 to 60 minutes to deliver a route. Often the only people the recipients see throughout the day are the drivers. They are cheered by a friendly face, kind word and a handshake.

Drivers are needed to maintain this wonderful service. All routes are within McAlester and Krebs with no more than 8 stops. Routes take about one hour. Your help is needed as a driver. Please consider sharing at least one hour of your time every five weeks. For more information, contact the MRHC Food Services Department at 918-421-8091.
