Labor & Delivery
The MRHC OB department strives to provide a homelike environment that accommodates a relaxed, family-centered birthing experience. The department is supported by the latest technology and experienced staff with the full resources of the hospital. The Delivery Rooms now feature new delivery beds and relaxation therapies including: Sound, Aromatherapy and Jacuzzi tubs. Also available in each room are TVs, gliders and birthing balls (upon request).
Childbirth Classes
Weekly Classes begin on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Meetings are held in the MRHC Large Classroom. Class fee is $10 per couple. Class topics include: breathing and relaxation techniques, discomforts of pregnancy, the birthing process, getting to know your newborn, breastfeeding and infant care, child seat safety, OB Department and hospital tour. The McAlester Regional Hospital Nursery
Our newly remodeled nursery offers state of the art care for your newborn baby. If the need should arise, there is a Level II Special Care Nursery for premature babies or those needing specialized treatment or care. The nursing staff is well trained and experienced in the care of newborns with special needs. If needed, transportation to a Level III Neonatal ICU unit in Tulsa or Oklahoma City is also available.
