McAlester Regional Health Center is dedicated to saving lives. For 30 years, our experienced trauma teams have readily responded to the critical emergency medical needs of the community and region. Our ER has been designated a Level III Trauma Center by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. A Level III Trauma Center designation requires 24 hour coverage providing on-site ER physicians, with on-call coverage providing General Surgery, Orthopedic, Anesthesia and Obstetric services.
The MRHC Emergency department recently received an award for Clinical Excellence from the VHA Oklahoma/Arkansas regional office. The Sustained Performance Award recognized the ER for maintaining a level of performance equal to or better than the CDC benchmarks for the number or percentage of patients who left the ER without being seen or improved overall length of stay in the ER. These awards are based on full twelve months of emergency department operational data.
