Ribbon-cutting set for new psychiatric unit at MRHC


McAlester Regional Health Center will host an Open House and Ribbon-cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, May 16, for its new Life Bridge Geriatric Psychiatric Unit.


The new Life Bridge Geriatric Psychiatric Unit is scheduled to open June 15 and will provide 14 beds for specialized inpatient treatment of behavioral health issues for adults age 60 and older.

Carpooling for employees, parking lot assistance and other policies are in place at McAlester Regional Health Center due to construction-related parking challenges on the campus.

Primary Stroke Center

MRHC is a nationally accredited Primary Stroke Center. These are the departments that immediately dispatch trained professionals for each Code Stroke called in our hospital. MRHC called Code Stroke for 264 patients in 2016.

Cigarette tax is key for our community

As the President & CEO of McAlester Regional Health Center, I usually don’t like seeing taxes go up. But I hope our Legislature passes the $1.50 increase in cigarette taxes. Here’s why: McAlester Regional Health Center is a key economic engine for our community. The current budget crisis threatens its viability.

Droze named Southeast Clinic admin


McAlester Regional Health Center has named Jared Droze as its new Physician Practice Administrator at Southeast Clinic.


Droze was most recently Clinic Finance Manager of Oklahoma State University Medical Center of Tulsa. He began working as Physician Practice Administrator for Southeast Clinic on April 4.

A generous donation from McAlester Regional Health Center’s Foundation to the American Heart Association will provide CPR in Schools Training Kits for 4 area high schools.


The Foundation and AHA presented the CPR in Schools Kits to Haileyville High School, Hartshorne High School, Indianola High School and Wilburton High School on March 8.


The donation comes after the State of Oklahoma signed the CPR in Schools bill into law requiring all Oklahoma students to have CPR training prior to high school graduation beginning in the 2015-16 school year.

A program developed at McAlester Regional Health Center is getting national attention for its success reducing the use of addictive medication to treat patients.


The MRHC HOMES (Hospital Opioids Maintenance of Efficacy & Safety) program is being shared with hospitals across Oklahoma, and across the country.
