A generous donation from McAlester Regional Health Center’s Foundation to the American Heart Association will provide CPR in Schools Training Kits for 4 area high schools.

 

The Foundation and AHA presented the CPR in Schools Kits to Haileyville High School, Hartshorne High School, Indianola High School and Wilburton High School on March 8.

 

The donation comes after the State of Oklahoma signed the CPR in Schools bill into law requiring all Oklahoma students to have CPR training prior to high school graduation beginning in the 2015-16 school year.

A program developed at McAlester Regional Health Center is getting national attention for its success reducing the use of addictive medication to treat patients.

 

The MRHC HOMES (Hospital Opioids Maintenance of Efficacy & Safety) program is being shared with hospitals across Oklahoma, and across the country.

Doctors, hospital employees, contractors, donors, and state and city officials were on hand Friday, March 17, to witness groundbreaking for a new $11.8 million Emergency Center in McAlester.

McAlester Regional Health Center hosted the groundbreaking to celebrate the beginning of construction for a new emergency Center.  The new 20,000 square-foot facility will increase capacity for patients, double the number of trauma treatment rooms, and decrease wait times with state-of-the-art design, equipment, and treatment elements.

Melissa is a Case Management Supervisor at McAlester Regional Health Center and the accreditation recognizes her commitment and demonstrated competence in the practice of Health Care Delivery System Case Management, according to the NBCM.

MRHC partners with MPS for high-tech healthcare

 

McAlester Regional Health Center is bringing high-tech healthcare in the form of a Virtual Clinic to students of McAlester Public Schools beginning Monday, Feb. 13.

The MRHC Telemedicine Program will link a school nurse, an ill student at school, and a parent at home or work with a Southeast Clinic physician via video technology for a virtual clinic.

Blood Donor Challenge issued for Valentine’s Day drive

 

As flu season and winter weather impact the blood supply, McAlester Regional Health Center urges McAlester area residents to join the “Blood Donor Challenge” to make sure local patients have the blood they need.

McAlester Regional Health Center’s dedicated air transport program is now approved to carry life-saving blood supplies for patients who may need it while in transit.

 

McAlester Regional AirCare worked with Oklahoma Blood Institute on the project, which includes use of an insulated thermal cooler in the AirCare helicopter at McAlester Regional Health Center. The cooler contains O-negative whole blood, which means medics can immediately administer blood to patients in an emergency, regardless of the patient’s blood type.

MRHC Employee Awards

 

McAlester Regional Health Center recognized employees at its annual celebration in December, including MRHC Physician of the Year Dr. Karen Siren, MRHC Resident of the Year Dr. Clay Bowen, Spirit Award Winner Chelsea Bishop, and Volunteer of the Year Norma Williams.

 

In addition, Diana Ward earned her 40 Year Service Award. Diana is a Registered Nurse who works in the Preoperative Department of the hospital.
