MRHC welcomes new Chief Medical Officer

As the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kenneth Murphy, M.D., FACS will be a key member of the Senior Executive team, engaged in defining the clinical business strategy and direction of the organization.

Dr. Murphy will lead the overall clinical vision and direction for McAlester Regional Health Center and its affiliated organizations, including but not limited to Southeast Clinic, McAlester Regional Ambulatory Surgery Center, and the McAlester Dialysis Health Center.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the hospital and how large of a footprint it has in the region.” said Dr. Murphy when discussing the factors that contributed to his choice of selecting McAlester Regional Health Center.

He will provide medical oversight, leadership and expertise to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services driven by evidence-based clinical practices, protocols and standards.    

Dr. Murphy would like to have close relationships with strategic partners, academic institutions and faculty, private practice physicians, nursing leaders and administrators in the region. He will serve as the lead physician executive for the organization, responsible for all medical staff strategy, quality and service.

He comes to McAlester Regional Health Center with thirty years of patient-centered general surgery and critical care experience, and a large scope of practice within the clinical, administrative and payor sectors. Dr. Murphy also has expertise in performance improvement, utilization management, peer review and Medical staff affairs; and extensive experience with Medicare and Medicare advantage, especially relating to post-discharge care.

When Dr. Murphy is not at work he enjoys attending Arkansas Razorback sports events and he shares this passion with his wife, 3 children and 3 grand-daughters. He thoroughly enjoys collecting and reading old books.
