Inpatient Services

Inpatient Services

McAlester Regional Health Center is a 149-bed not-for-profit hospital serving McAlester and communities throughout Southeastern Oklahoma. Our inpatient teams provide compassionate, professional care for patients who require hospitalization for medical, surgical, cardiac, and other health conditions.

Our goal is to provide high-quality care close to home while keeping patients and their families informed and involved throughout their hospital stay. Our interdisciplinary team works together to develop an individualized plan of care, coordinate services, manage symptoms, and prepare patients for a safe transition home or to the next level of care.

Medical-Surgical Services

Our Medical-Surgical Services provide care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions who require hospitalization but do not require intensive care. Our experienced nurses, physicians, hospitalists, nursing assistants, therapists, respiratory therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, case managers, social workers, and other healthcare professionals work together to meet each patient’s individual needs.

Our team is committed to providing compassionate care, keeping patients and families informed, and helping patients progress toward a safe discharge.

Intensive Care Unit

When illness or injury becomes life-threatening, MRHC’s Intensive Care Unit provides specialized care for patients who are medically unstable and require close monitoring and intensive treatment.

Our ICU team provides intensive medical, surgical, and cardiac care. Highly trained nurses continuously assess patients’ conditions, provide intensive therapies and interventions, assist with invasive procedures, monitor hemodynamic and cardiac function, and operate and maintain life-support equipment.

Monitor technicians support the ICU team through continuous cardiac monitoring and surveillance.

Our ICU team works closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, compassionate care for patients and their families during critical illness.

Hospitalist Services

Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. MRHC’s hospitalist team works closely with nursing staff, specialists, therapists, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate each patient’s care throughout their hospitalization.

Hospitalists are available to evaluate patients, address changes in their condition, answer questions, communicate treatment plans, and coordinate care with specialists when needed.

Care Close to Home

At MRHC, we understand that being hospitalized can be stressful for patients and their families. Our teams are committed to providing safe, compassionate and professional care while keeping patients close to their families and community whenever possible.

If a patient’s condition requires a higher level of specialized care than can be provided at MRHC, our medical team will coordinate an appropriate transfer to another facility. Transportation may be provided by ambulance or McAlester Air Care when clinically appropriate.

For questions or concerns during your hospitalization, please speak with your nurse or ask to speak with the appropriate member of your care team. We are here to help you understand your care and feel supported throughout your hospital stay.

Inpatient Rehabilitation

McAlester Regional Health Center’s Inpatient Rehabilitation program provides specialized, intensive rehabilitation services for patients who are recovering from an illness, injury, surgery, or other medical condition that has affected their ability to safely return home and resume daily activities.

Our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team works with each patient to develop an individualized plan of care focused on improving strength, mobility, independence, and the ability to safely perform everyday activities.

Depending on each patient’s needs, rehabilitation services may include:

  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech-language therapy
  • Nursing care
  • Medical management
  • Nutrition services
  • Case management and discharge planning
  • Patient and family education

Our rehabilitation team works closely with patients and their families to establish meaningful goals and measure progress throughout the rehabilitation stay. The goal is to help each patient achieve the greatest possible level of independence and safely transition to the next appropriate level of care.

Located within McAlester Regional Health Center, our Inpatient Rehabilitation program allows patients to receive comprehensive medical and rehabilitation care close to home, family, and their community.
