A professional team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists work with our nurses and social workers to provide a patient centered plan of care specific to the needs of each patient.

The McAlester Regional Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit has been serving our patients and community for over 30 years. Our therapy staff has more than 60 years combined experience with this hospital and has helped over 5,000 patients return to their normal lives through successful rehabilitation.

Through an average length of stay of less than two weeks, over 77% of our patients regain enough functional independence to return home safely.

  • Inpatient rehab is available for pts who require an intense level of therapy in an inpatient setting, including those who have been diagnosed with strokes, orthopedic conditions, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, MS, Parkinsonian, Guillain Barre and other disabling conditions.
  • Requirements for admission
    • Referrals can be made by physicians or by an individual. A rehabilitation clinician will complete a screening evaluation to determine the appropriate level of care.

Potential patients must be able to:

  • Tolerate 3 hours of therapy a day/ 5 days a week
  • Make significant improvement within a reasonable time
  • Require medical supervision by rehabilitation physician
  • Be medically stable

McAlester Regional Inpatient Rehabilitation accepts Medicare, Medicaid and many different insurance plans.

  • Inpatient Rehab Visitation

Family is an integral part of the rehab process and immediate family/caregivers are encouraged to participate in a patient’s daily care and therapy as needed.

General visitation is open. However, patients are often in therapy during the day. Late afternoon or evening and Sunday visits are best. When in doubt, please contact the patient to ensure they will be available.

You can call the inpatient rehab nurse desk at 918-421-8063 with any questions you may have.

We are conveniently located in the heart of Southeast Oklahoma and serve the adult population who may have experienced a setback due to stroke, brain injury, hip fracture, joint replacement or severe debility due to illness or accident.
